A consortium of St. Louis County churches, North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU), recognized Room at the Inn for its work to promote social justice. The fifth annual NCCU Awards Dinner was held on Sunday, April 19, at the May Center at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton.
“We congratulate the Sisters of Divine Providence and Room at the Inn for their dedication to social justice,” said Dr. Barbara Thompson, NCCU executive board member. “We honor Room at the Inn for its service to the community and its work to erase inequality and injustice. We are proud to share this mission with Room at the Inn.”
Room at the Inn Program Director Joann Nowak, O.S.F. said, “Scripture calls us to be compassionate, and our religions tradition teaches us that every person has a fundamental right to the necessities of life, including things such as employment, health care, education … and shelter. We deal with social justice issues every day.”
