Volunteer at Room at the Inn
“What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?” ~ George Eliot
We are so grateful you are considering sharing your talents with the homeless of St. Louis County! We can use your help! Our volunteers always feel appreciated, and you can get real satisfaction from knowing you’ve helped someone who needs it. Many of our volunteers report that spending time with our clients opens their eyes to misconceptions about the homeless.
Our greatest volunteer need is additional night sites. Your congregation would host up to ten neighbors one night a month, providing transportation, food and shelter.
To find out more, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Gina Timme at 314-209-9198 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Day Site Volunteers
We welcome volunteers of all ages, with all kinds of talents. We are happy to work with high school students who need to fulfill a community service requirement.
You would be a special blessing if you can spend the night as an overnight host with our guests. There are a few evenings each month for which we do not have a congregational host site. On those nights, the clients stay at the shelter in Bridgeton. Please consider staying with them as host. (See volunteer opportunities available below, or click here for more details.)
To find out more and to match your skills and time availability to the shelter’s needs, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Gina Timme at 314-209-9181 or email@example.com.
Online Job application Assistance
Many of the clients are not comfortable applying for jobs online and do not apply for positions unless someone is there to help them. They may not understand technology or terminology and therefore do not know how to answer application questions. As a volunteer you would assist clients with this process. Online job application volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 a.m.
We are seeking an individual with resume writing experience that is interested in helping develop and write professional resumes for our clients. We will provide a completed resume worksheet for each client that includes all of the information you will need to develop a resume. You can create the resumes and corresponding cover letters at your convenience and drop them off to us on a weekly basis, either through email or in person. Having a professional resume is an important step in building self-confidence and helping clients gain employment.
